Each year in February and September, The Community Outreach Committee sponsors a food drive to benefit students in need within our Sierra Vista Elementary School neighboring community. Every Friday the school counselor fills 26 backpacks with food to make a breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks for Saturday and Sunday for one child. Thanks to generous donations made by All Saints Lutheran Church in the past, the school has been able to successfully continue this program so these 26 students and their families have been able to have food for the weekends. This is a wonderful opportunity to help those in need in our community and neighborhood and to work toward the mission of ending childhood hunger.
Over 25 backpacks are filled each week to be taken home by needy students on Friday to enable them to have weekend meals.
Refrigeration space is almost non‐existent so no fresh or frozen food will be accepted. Also, no glass containers since food is carried home in backpacks.
Please take this list with you when shopping & donate something to this worthy program.
